The Dublin adventure is over.
My apartment (with it's awesome fibre optic 50mb connection ethernet wall socket) and dodgy appendix have gone the way of a Wall Street investment banker.
Although Dublin is where most of the action is just now career-wise (Google, YouTube, Facebook, Yahoo!, Microsoft, etc) I am currently looking into returning to Scotland seeing as that's where my girlfriend and most of my friends are.
While I don't post regularly, I do read .NET magazine writer Gary Marshall's blog weekly as it is funnier and smarter than most of the nonsense I write. That reminds me, I must get a .NET subscription for Christmas so I don't have to pay £5.99 per issue!
I am still as passionate as ever about music. In view of the current climate I know I made the right decision 18 months ago to step back from Pet Piranha and take a break. In hindsight, the mistake we made was trying to run a collective as a hobby but calling it a record label.
It's heartening to see a healthy music scene in Scotland because it has some great labels from Fence to Chemikal, plus I love seeing the likes of Frightened Rabbit and Twilight Sad doing well.
I'm currently in Donegal finishing off some website articles, updating some old site code, building a new website and trying out the odd SEO experiment.
Inbetween I'm playing guitar and writing songs although I'm having these weird latency issues between my Yamaha GO46 preamp and my PC. I wonder if using Vista 64-bit is the root of the problem? Soon as I can afford it I'm going to buy an Orange Amp and Cabinet and finally get recording.
See you in 2009.
